SINGAPORE'S EARLY PLANNING AND RESPONSE TO COVID-19

SINGAPORE'S EARLY PLANNING AND RESPONSE TO COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic, as well as previous worldwide outbreaks of diseases such as influenza, HIV, Ebola, SARS, and MERS, among others, remind us of the need to be more prepared to deal with such situations. The world spoke of becoming more prepared after prior pandemics but did not fully commit to the seemingly huge financial resources or effort required to truly be prepared.

COVID-19 has exposed the incompleteness of our preparations. Its human and economic costs thus far make the pre-COVID costs of preparedness appear trivial.

This webinar will review the events that have influenced Singapore's early planning and response to COVID-19 as well as lessons learned and adjustments made as the effects of the pandemic unfold globally.

Speaker:
  • Associate Professor, NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and Associate Vice President, Health Innovation and Translation, National University of Singapore
