The Role of Audiovisual Translation in Digital Communication

The Role of Audiovisual Translation in Digital Communication

As a global pandemic is forcing people to stay at home, everyday life has shifted from an analog to a parallel digital world. Everyday activities, such as shopping, education, and entertainment have moved to digital platforms, a situation that has led to adjustments in the way communication happens. Travelling, too, has become quite limited and traditional tourism has given way to online visits to places and cultural venues across the globe. In the process, we are being given the opportunity to enjoy multiple digital products that are increasingly more global, interactive and portable. The abundant content made available through digital media – digital publications, webinars, podcasts, series and films, virtual visits, and social media, among others –has led to a growing need for specialized mediation strategies provided by translators, interpreters, and accessibility designers to create multilingual and multi-format content that will guarantee extensive circulation for users of different languages and cultures and personal abilities.

This webinar focuses on the growing importance of audiovisual translation in the present context of digital communication.
