Protecting our sound and audiovisual heritage: A brief history of audio recording

The IFLA PAC regional center at Qatar National Library is organizing this session to discuss the history of audio recording formats, from the 1857 phonautograph to 21st-century digital formats. We will discuss the most common audio carriers in the Middle East, with particular attention to the commercial music industry and radio in the region.
